Established in 1947 in Mumbai, RMIL has been manufacturing copper and copper alloys in the form of sheets, strips, foils, cups and blanks for more than 70 years. The company has consistently strengthened its capabilities, with operations consolidated in 2010 at a modern, integrated manufacturing facility in Sarigam (near Vapi), Gujarat, India.
Now part of the Gravita Group, RMIL benefits from institutional backing, robust governance practices and a global business network. This association supports long-term growth, operational discipline and a consistent focus on quality and customer reliability. With ongoing investments in technology and process excellence, RMIL has built deep expertise in specialty copper alloy strips, blanks, and cups. The company currently operates with a production capacity of 18,000 MTPA, catering to both domestic and international markets.

1950s -1970s
Founded in the 1946, RMIL began operations with the manufacturing utensils, non-ferrous alloy ingots and copper strips and over the years expanded its capabilities across copper and copper alloy products.
Pre 1980s
Installed hot rolling mill, Robertson 2-hi mill, grey iron foundry, and machine shop.
1980
Commenced manufacturing brass strips for Indian Ordinance factories.
1992
Commenced manufacturing case cups for Indian Ordnance factories.
1994
Modernisation of strip rolling by the installation of Horizontal continuous casting, cold rolling mill, and downstream equipment.
2002
Supply of cupro-nickel strips to the Indian government for coins.
2010
Commissioning of the new Manufacturing plant at Sarigam.
2015
Completing transition of production from Mumbai to Sarigam (capacity enhanced to 18k MTPA).
2017
Major thrust on exports of bullet cups for small arms ammunition, to catapult RMIL into the global league in the defense sector.
2020
Dedicated Cupping press shop facilities commenced operations.
2026
RMIL becomes part of the Gravita Group, marking a new phase of growth with strengthened governance, global reach, and continued focus on high-quality copper and copper alloy products.
